Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University (Social Sciences), founded in 1981, is a comprehensive academic journal of humanities and social sciences approved by the State Press and Publications Bureau and sponsored by Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). It mainly publishes the newest research results from social science experts and scholars, reflecting the hot spots, key points, and frontier issues of social sciences.

Since its inception, the Journal has regarded the publication of high-quality academic papers and the combination of theories and practice as the basic principles for running a journal. By relying on superior disciplines of XJTU, it adheres to the principles of standing out by its prominent features and establishes the awareness of academic fineness. Meanwhile, it focuses on cutting edge research horizons, the innovation of research contents, and the practicality of research methods and encourages discussions and debates from different academic views. A great number of publications have been reprinted by Xinhua Digest, China Social Science Abstracts, China University Academic Abstracts, and Renda Newspapers and Periodicals Photocopies, which generates a certain popularity and influence. More than 10 columns have been set up till now, mainly concentrating on the fields of economics, management, interdisciplinary science, and sociology. In addition, it includes other research contents such as Chinese culture, law, philosophy, higher education, literature and communication as well. Amongst them, the column of “Economic and Management Research” has been rated by the Ministry of Education of China as “Famous Journals and Columns’ Construction Project”.

In recent years, the Journal has been relying on the major and key projects of the National Social Science Fund and giving full play to the advantages of XJTU in cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Meanwhile, the Journal invites prestigious experts and academic elites in China and  abroad to host the column and publishes a series of comprehensive and forward-looking academic achievements with theoretical depth and practical significance, extending the effects both at home and abroad. In the Overview of Chinese Core Journals, it has been listed as the “Core Journal of Comprehensive Humanities and Social Sciences” for years. It is also one of the “Ministry of Education of China’s Famous Journals and Columns of Philosophy and Social Sciences”, and the “Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI)”. In addition, the Journal has won honors like “China’s Core Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences”, “National Top 100 Social Science Journals”, “National Universities’ Top 30 Social Science Journals” and “National Universities’ Fine Social Science Journals”.
